Flood package expanded, appeal launched

3 March 2022 |Appeals

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank has expanded its flood assistance package to include more customers while launching an appeal to help communities devastated by the floods. The Flood Disaster Appeal will be administered by the Bank’s charitable arm, the Community Enterprise Foundation.

Bendigo Bank Managing Director Marnie Baker said “It is heartbreaking to see the impact these floods are having on people, families and communities. When the storms pass and the waters subside, it’s important for all of us to remember that the hard work of rebuilding is only just beginning.”

“The Bank stands ready to provide help where we can and to ensure the long-term recovery of these communities, in line with our commitment to Australian communities. I encourage all those in a position to donate to do so.”

The package of measures including home loan and business loan relief for up to three months, discounted interest rates, fee waivers and other concessions has been extended to NSW customers as the severe weather event moves further south. Full details of the package can be found here.

The Community Enterprise Foundation has extensive experience in fundraising for communities affected by natural disasters having distributed over $150 million since inception in 2005. Funds raised will be used to support the recovery both in the immediate aftermath of the floods and over the medium and long term.

The foundation raised more than $47 million during the 2019/20 Summer Bushfire appeal with $29 million disbursed to date and a further $18 million to be distributed over the next five years through a community led approach to support the medium to long term recovery efforts.

We recognise the important role that leaders and community organisations play in rebuilding and strengthening the social fabric of communities. Our focus is to assist people and communities through their recovery journey by investing locally in social and physical infrastructure.

Donations to the Flood Disaster Appeal can be made at any Bendigo Bank branch or online at www.bendigobank.com.au/floodappeal. For those who live outside of Australia but wish to contribute please note we accept international donations.

The Flood Disaster Appeal is a management account of Community Enterprise Foundation™ ABN 69 694 230 518, The Bendigo Centre, PO Box 480, Bendigo, Vic 3552. The Foundation will make distributions by way of grants, following receipt of applications from organisations endorsed with item 1 Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).
