Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s Green Loan boom

27 February 2023 |Announcements

More and more Australians are looking to reduce their carbon footprints, with Bendigo and Adelaide Bank revealing today a more than 600% increase in its Green Loan lending in just one year.

It’s the highest number of Green Loans settled by the Bank in its 20-year Green Loans history.

Bendigo Bank’s Green Personal Loans help Australians fund new and used electric vehicles (EV’s), solar panels, solar hot water, grey water treatment systems, double glazing, energy efficient white goods, solar batteries, electric vehicle charging stations and more.

Richard Fennell, Chief Customer Officer Consumer Banking at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank said it was fantastic to see an increasing uptake of the Bank’s Green Loans.

“We were the first Australian bank to offer and reward Australians who purchased goods that were energy efficient or used renewable energy sources with a lower interest rate when launching the loans in 2002,” Mr Fennell said.

“It’s amazing to see just how far we’ve come since then, with more customers wanting to reduce their carbon footprint than ever before.

“We simply can’t have prosperous communities unless we consider the impact of decisions made today on future generations,” Mr Fennell concluded.

Bendigo Bank customer, Gareth Dixon who has recently had his Green Loan approved for a new Kia EV6 and a home charger says the process was incredibly straightforward.

“I’ve been wanting to make the switch to an EV for quite some time, and the simplicity of Bendigo Bank’s Green Loan made me finally press the go button,” Mr Dixon said

“I’ve had my charging station installed at my home and my Kia EV6 has arrived. My wife and I were very excited to get behind the wheel, particularly knowing by doing so, we’re doing everything we can for our environment.

“I’d recommend anyone looking to upgrade their vehicle to make the switch to an EV. Not only is it going to save you money in the long run-on expensive fuel, but it’s also the right thing to do for our urban air quality, environment and our future generations,” Mr Dixon said.

Another happy customer from South Australia has also embarked on their own green loan journey, recently being approved for a new family electric vehicle.

Stacey and Gareth Stewart had their loan written by Bendigo Bank’s Customer Contact Sales Team and said they chose the Green Loan because of the competitive rate, and features tailored to their needs.

“The interest rate was competitive, and it seemed tailored to our needs,” Ms Stewart said.

“Electric vehicles like the one we’ve purchased are the way of the future and we feel it’s our way of contributing to the environment in a positive way, as well as being a cost saving for us in the long run due to low maintenance costs.

“Our experience with Bendigo Bank was very positive. The process was quite quick and the communication was great,” Ms Stewart concluded.
