Sponsorship

Bendigo and Adelaide Bank has long considered sponsorship to be an important part of our continued support of Australian communities.

We make sponsorship decisions on a national, state, regional and branch level. This ensures that we remain committed to the communities in which we serve and partner with organisations that are important to our business.

Our sponsorship budget is heavily committed each year with existing sponsorship relationships, however we welcome the opportunity to consider new opportunities. Regrettably though, we always receive many more proposals than we can support.

Sponsorship defined

At Bendigo and Adelaide Bank we define sponsorship as a relationship where all parties involved - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, our sponsorship partner and the community - aim to receive a financial or mutually beneficial return.

What sponsorships must provide

The following is an outline of our priorities. Sponsorship proposals must demonstrate at least six of the following:

  • A natural link with our core brand values
  • Mechanisms to add-value to our target markets
  • High level of community involvement
  • Integration and networking opportunities across the company
  • Connection opportunities for our partners – Community Bank® branches, Lead On, Generation Green, Community Telco, Connected Communities, etc.
  • Measureable benefits for our customers, staff and shareholders
  • Provision of content for website
  • Ability to link in with direct mail activities to event supporters
  • Product placement (using our product in a meaningful way as part of the event)
  • Provide opportunity for key customer hospitality (“money can’t buy” activities)
  • Provide promotional main media time/space (logo exposure does not count)
  • Access to athletes and other appropriate celebrities

Other requirements

  • We require sponsorship exclusivity in the category of banking and financial services
  • We generally need a minimum of six months lead time (to allow for consideration, approval processing, staff resourcing and planning of leveraging activities)
  • Logo exposure is considered a bonus, but is not the primary goal of sponsorship
  • We prefer to invest in sponsorships that carry out audience research during and/or after the event, including sponsor questions, and providing results to the sponsor

Types of sponsorships we will not consider

We will not consider proposals that fall under the following categories:

  • Support political or religious organisations
  • Denigrate, exclude or offend minority groups
  • Encourage violence
  • Mistreat or harm animals
  • Create environmental hazards
  • Present a danger to public health or safety
  • Take place outside of Australia

Activities that are not covered under sponsorship

Our sponsorship program does not include community support activities such as:

  • Philanthropic activity (e.g. donations, grants, appeals, fundraising, etc)
  • Community engagement activities
  • Business investments (such as networking, conferences and trade shows).
