Our new home in Adelaide

In February 2014, the Bank opened its new Adelaide home at 80 Grenfell Street, in the heart of the city’s business and retail district.

The purpose-built 11-storey office tower stands 76 metres tall. But what the building stands for is even bigger than that.

This multi-million dollar investment demonstrates the Bank’s ongoing commitment to South Australia, our customers, partners, shareholders and staff.

80 Grenfell Street boasts an innovative five star Green Star architectural design – representing a significant investment in a sustainable South Australia – and features a range of natural materials sourced locally where possible.

The office tower is complemented by an innovative flagship branch, which will set the benchmark for the Bank’s in-branch customer experience.

Key features of our Adelaide building include;

  • Innovative exterior architectural design
  • Open plan floors
  • Central atria to maximise natural light
  • Underfloor air conditioning for energy efficiency and improved air quality
  • Vertically integrated floors to encourage greater connectivity
  • A variety of improved work spaces
  • Large terrace level, including coffee shop for staff

The new Adelaide headquarters brings together more than 1000 staff from across the Group, including our wholly-owned subsidiary Rural Bank, enhancing a one-team environment and encouraging greater connectivity.

This includes a transition to a new and innovative way of working, with the activity based working concept.

Activity based working is a work concept that will inspire, invigorate and encourage a high performance culture and build stronger relationships with colleagues in a flexible workspace.

It gives employees the ability to easily work individually or in a group, supported by world class building design and the right technology to encourage mobility.

Our Bank is the largest employer in South Australia to adopt this employee-driven practice, a flexible work concept that enables our teams to work more effectively and efficiently to deliver on our customer-connected strategy in an even better way.

Our new home provides more spaces for teamwork and collaboration, fostering greater interaction between people, and allowing staff to choose the workspace that is most appropriate for their task and to suit their work style.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott officially opened Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s new corporate office in Adelaide with Chairman Robert Johanson and Managing Director Mike Hirst.
