Mike Hirst
Managing Director

Mike Hirst - Managing Director - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Mike Hirst joined the Bank in 2001 and has worked across most areas of the business including the positions of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Retail Bank prior to becoming Managing Director in 2009.

A career banker with broad experience in retail banking, finance, planning, treasury and financial markets, Mike is Deputy Chairman of Australian Bankers’ Association Council, a Director of Racing Victoria and a member of the Business Council of Australia. Mike also sits on the advisory boards for the Centre for Workplace Leadership, Skilling the Bay and GROW21. He was previously a Director of Treasury Corporation of Victoria, Barwon Health, Colonial First State and Austraclear and a member of the Federal Government’s Financial Sector Advisory Council.

A keen AFL fan, he is a life member of Sydney University ANFC.

Marnie Baker

Marnie Baker - Executive, Customer - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Based in Bendigo and married with three sons, Marnie has been with the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group since 1989 and an Executive of the Bank since 2000.

Marnie has extensive industry experience in financial services, specifically Retail Banking, Trustee & Custodial Services, Financial Planning, Insurance, Funds Management, Treasury, Risk & Compliance, Payment Systems, Information Technology, Change Management, Social Media and Digital Technologies, Legal and Human Resources.

Marnie holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) from Latrobe University and is a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants, member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia.

Marnie is a Director of Sandhurst Trustees Limited, Australian Friendly Society Limited, Community Sector Enterprises Pty Limited, Community Sector Banking Pty Ltd, NPP Australia Limited and a member of the La Trobe University Foundation Committee.

Richard Fennell

Richard Fennell - Executive, Corporate - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Richard Fennell joined the Bank in 2007 after an 18 year career in finance and consulting, primarily with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Australia and Asia.

Richard was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2009, and in addition, he has recently taken executive responsibility for Group Strategy and our Corporate Division. This division oversees many of the non-technology focussed support areas including People and Performance, Properties, Procurement and our Processing Centres.

A keen supporter of sport and the arts in South Australia, Richard is a director of the Helpmann Academy, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting young artists as they transition from study to artistic careers, and is a member of the finance committee of the Adelaide Football Club.

Richard is also a member of the Public Funds Committee of the Australia Cambodia Foundation, an organisation which supports a range of children’s charities in Cambodia.

Alexandra Gartmann

Alexandra Gartmann - Executive, Agribusiness - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Alexandra joined the Bendigo and Adelaide Bank Group as Rural Bank Chief Executive Officer in October 2015, having been a member of the Board since November 2014. Before joining Rural Bank, Alexandra was CEO of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), a charitable foundation based on a partnership between philanthropy, community, government and business supporting the economic prosperity of rural, regional and remote communities across Australia.

Prior to this, Alexandra held the position of CEO of the Birchip Cropping Group for 10 years - an agricultural research organisation based in the Mallee Wimmera region. She was previously a member of the Board of the Rural Finance Corporation of Victoria. Alexandra is Chair of the CSIRO Agriculture Flagship Advisory Council, a member of the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership and the Victorian Agriculture Advisory Council.

Robert Musgrove

Since joining Bendigo and Adelaide Bank in 1987, Robert has held a wide and varied range of positions across the Group, from Customer Service Officer to playing a pivotal role in the development and expansion of the Community Bank® model.

From 2006 Robert managed key innovative partnerships for the Bank before moving into the role of Head of Group Strategy in 2009. Robert joined the Bank’s executive team in 2013.

Robert is always on the lookout for challenging and unique ways to give back to his community. He has participated in the Oxfam 100km Trailwalker fundraising event, and recently volunteered for Earthwatch, counting African fauna and flora in South African wildlife reserves.

Tim Piper

Tim Piper - Executive, Risk - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Tim Piper joined the Bank in 2005 after 18 years at National Australia Bank.

With a finance career spanning over 35 years, Tim has had direct experience in most facets of banking, from personal finance through to middle and large commercial lending and credit risk.

Tim’s banking career has also included asset restructuring and working in the international capital and debt markets.

Tim is a director of the not-for-profit Young Adelaide Voices which is a respected choir organisation that allows all comers to experience the opportunity to sing and then progress to the Concert Choirs over time.

In his spare time Tim is a regular cyclist and is a believer that coffee definitely tastes better after cycling a fair distance.

Bruce Speirs

Bruce Speirs - Executive, Partner Connection - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Bruce Speirs joined the Bank in 2004 and has held a number of senior positions including Head of Products, General Manager Managed Funds, Head of Financial Management and Reporting.

Most recently, Bruce held the role of Chief Financial Officer of the Group’s wholly owned subsidiary, Rural Bank before becoming Executive, Partner Connection in 2015. Prior to his appointment at Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, Bruce worked for Ernst & Young for 9 years in Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.

A father of four children, Bruce is also the Chairman of Windmill, an Adelaide based theatre company focussed on the creation of works for children, young people and families which are toured nationally and internationally.

Stella Thredgold

Stella Thredgold - Business Enablement - Bendigo and Adelaide Bank

Stella joined the Bank in 1987 as an accountant and has since held a number of senior roles including financial management, treasury settlements, mergers, payments, properties and strategic sourcing. Appointed to the Executive in 2010, Stella’s portfolio included People and Performance, Technology Services, Legal, IT Risk and Information Security, Properties and Sourcing.

In 2015 Stella was appointed to the role of Executive Business Enablement with responsibility for the Group’s core technology, change and architecture functions.

An advocate of diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace, Stella enjoys fostering workplace environments and practices that encourage learning from others and sharing diverse perspectives. Stella also has a keen interest in mentoring and supporting people to succeed and find balance in life and participates in many industry and community forums to influence and make a difference.

Stella holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and is a member of the Australian Society of Certified Practicing Accountants and Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. She was also a finalist in the Telstra Business Woman of the Year Awards in 2015.

Alexandra Tullio

Alex joined the Bank in 2011 as a senior leader in the in the Group’s Wealth division, after more than 15 years in the financial services industry. In 2013 she was appointed to the Group Executive, as Executive, Geared Solutions, responsible for Leveraged, the Bank’s margin lending business.
